Gretchen Weber is a Dallas-based artist specializing in metal (steel) art sculpture and oil painting. ‍

Gretchen has been creating art ever since she can remember. As a child, her natural talent was encouraged with painting lessons, summer art programs, and more than one Christmas card contest.

After a long career in corporate software, she re-ignited her secret passion with oil classes in 2014 and welding in 2017 at the Dallas Creative Arts Center. She now studies with many different teachers to hone skill, style and technique.

“Plucking discarded, rusty objects from someone’s trash and transforming them into whimsical, thought-provoking sculptures gives me a small thrill. Factoring in weight, balance and transport-ability are other puzzles to solve while adding to the aesthetic of the overall work.”

“With painting, oils to me have a special luminosity and brilliance. Using basically the same centuries-old tools as the great painters of past, I am subject to the whim of one small brushstroke to completely change the feel of a work.”
